Emily Brock is a Research Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science focusing on forest environments in transnational and global contexts. In 2015 she published a book on forests as places of economic, scientific, and political importance, titled “Money Trees: The Douglas Fir and American Forestry,” by Oregon State University Press. Taking the example of the Douglas fir, Emily illustrates how science is presented within corporations and how they use science and environmental knowledge.
